All good things must come to an end

I really can’t say it feels good to be back. It is FREEZING outside, and I am more than a little tired of the snow. But hey, we skipped out on one entire week of winter weather, and that was amazing.

The funny thing is that in Florida, they were all complaining about the cold and apologizing for the weather. One evening at a restaurant we asked for an outside table and about 10 minutes later they came by and turned on all the heat lamps. So much for the lovely cool breeze. The weather wasn’t exactly lay on the beach in a swimsuit weather, but it was lower 70’s almost every day and it felt great.

Devan LOVED the beach and LOVED the ocean. We went to a different beach each day and stayed for hours. Whenever we weren’t at the beach, he asked when we were going back. He behaved wonderfully the entire time, and it was obvious he really enjoyed the trip. He even behaved on our 2 1/2 hour flight home, much to our relief. I am so glad we all went together and I think more family vacations are definitely in our future.

Some trip highlights were the beach at Key West, our lovely hotel, Devan getting a kiss from a sea lion, all of the WONDERFUL seafood we ate, going to the fish market and buying our own seafood, and just in general a wonderful and relaxing time. We posted some highlights in our Picasa album to the right, just click on the album to open full size pictures.

Some funny quotes from Devan:

I told him we were in the city of Miami and he replied in true toddler fashion: “No Ma, MY ami!!” We argued about it for awhile and I decided to just let it go.

We were getting on the airplane and Devan announced really louder that his diaper was hurting him. Craig asked quietly if his bottom was hurting and he replied (very loudly) “No! My PENIS hurts! My penis is hurting me!!” He repeated it about 10 times as Craig tried to adjust the diaper in the airplane seat. Thankfully, we had no further diaper incidents on the plane.

And so, our vacation has come to an end and we are back in cold and snowy Kansas. And all I can do it daydream about the next vacation, which is probably not going to happen in the near future. It’s time to start planning for baby girl now!
